Press ReleasesMcClintock Speaks to Auburn Chamber of Commerce

Sen. Tom McClintock brought his campaign for Congress to Auburn Tuesday morning voicing support for the building of the Auburn Dam.  McClintock spoke to approximately 70 local business owners that are members of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce.

"The Auburn Dam means 600 to 800 megawatts of clean and cheap electricity – enough for nearly a million households -- at a time when Californians are already paying the highest electricity prices in the United States," McClintock said.

"A generation from now, the residents of this valley will live in a society with abundant water, clean energy and security from floods.  Or they will live in a society of water rationing, scarce and ruinously expensive electricity and constant threat from flooding. And no decision will weigh more heavily in that future than our generation’s commitment to complete the Auburn Dam."

McClintock appeared Monday before the State Water Resources Control Board which may revoke the permits that are necessary for proceeding with construction of the Auburn Dam.

McClintock provided an update on his campaign, shared insights on the stalled state budget negotiations, and talked about America's need to return to constitutionalism.

Former Auburn Mayor Cheryl Maki, Auburn City Councilman Mike Holmes and the city's chief of police, Valerie Harris, were also in attendance.
