Press ReleasesPoliticker, other non-partisan reports rate 4th CD as “Likely Republican”

Politicker’s newly-launched Pindell Report has declared the 4th Congressional District as “Likely Republican” for the upcoming fall 2008 elections. This is in line with several other non-partisan analyses of congressional races that have been released over the last few months.

The Pindell Report is a non-partisan assessment of congressional and gubernatorial elections that determines the competitiveness of each race. Only two California Congressional Districts were deemed competitive come November 4 – the 11th CD with Democratic incumbent Jerry McNerney and the 4th CD with the race between State Sen. Tom McClintock and Charlie Brown.

While the race for the 11th CD is predicted to be competitive, the 4th CD is expected to remain in Republican hands, thus denying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a stronger Democratic contingent from her home state of California.

Other assessments of congressional races have anticipated that the 4th CD will remain “Likely Republican” or at least “Leans Republican” in the fall: the Cook Political Report, the Rothenberg Political Report, and the Evans-Novak Political Report.
